The owners Ken & Holly Thompson purchased the business from Gertrude Riddle
in August of 1999. Gertrude worked for the original owner Dorothy Bernet until 1975. When Dorothy retired Gertrude and
her husband Clarence purchased the shop. When the business opened in 1945 it was located on Missouri street 2 doors down from
the old Yale Theater, a short time later it was moved across the street to where the Rogers County Bank drive up is located
now. In 1964 the shop made it's final move to our current location 308 W Will Rogers Blvd, and the name was changed to Dorothy's
Petals & Poodles (Dorothy loved her poodles she raised & sold them out of a kennel built
in the back of the building).Of course the Poodle was dropped eventually and the kennel was turned in to storage space. However
we do like to boast that somethings never change. The phone number that was issued in 1945 with only 3 numbers at the
time (692) has only changed slightly to 341-0692, having the same phone number for over sixty years is just to cool. We have people
come in and tell us that we did there grandparents and parents wedding and now they want us to do there's as well. When
people mention the GOOD OLD DAY'S , or back when something was made to last we like to think that our little
shop can be included in that nostalgia. We feel that we are caretakers of a local landmark not the owners. Our staff invites
everyone to come in and look around we have a lot of old pictures and items from years past and love to visit and
reminisce.
